This Memorial Day Weekend in Texas has been really special. We’ve had lots of opportunities to connect with old friends. It’s been such a treasure to pick up where we left off. We’re visiting on the heels of the mass school shooting in Uvalde which has definitely affected the hearts of people everywhere, but particularly our friends here who are living not too far away from where the tragedy happened. We had the opportunity to share communion at church on Sunday about how God is our strength even when we are weak. It felt very appropriate for this time in our world and life.

On Memorial Day we headed up to Austin to cheer on our friend Esteban (Es-TEH-ban) who was competing in a triathlon. This is his 6th triathlon and he’s also an Iron Man! It was really fun to be there and cheer him on at the end of his run. Traveling with two families and 6 kids total we didn’t get there as early as we wanted to, but it was still special to see him run. His wife Amber brought posters and markers for the kids to decorate. We celebrated after at Lazarus’ Brewing company. Dave was in heaven drinking a coffee beer. The street tacos were delicious!

As with most of our travels we’re eating our way through TX…Cooper’s BBQ, melt in your mouth brisket, blackberry cobbler, baking with my friend Bri, fajitas, street tacos, Emily’s coffee shop, skirt steak, and sweet corn. Our hearts and our stomachs are full. 😋

Our trip would not be complete without a visit to Emily’s. I have so many memories with friends and family at this coffee shop. It is so near and dear to my heart.
