Boyers Head West

 Friends & Food  This Memorial Day Weekend in Texas has been really special. We’ve had lots of opportunities to connect with old friends. It’s been such a treasure to pick up where we left off. We’re visiting on the heels of the mass school shooting in Uvalde which has definitely affected the hearts of people everywhere, but particularly our friends here who are living not too far away from where the tragedy happened. We had the opportunity to share communion at church on Sunday about how God is our strength even when we are weak. It felt very appropriate for this time in our world and life.  On Memorial Day we headed up to Austin to cheer on our friend Esteban (Es-TEH-ban) who was competing in a triathlon. This is his 6th triathlon and he’s also an Iron Man! It was really fun to be there and cheer him on at the end of his run.  On the Road This adventure is happening. Our boys are calling this our insane summer trip. Our family of 6 plus our golden doodle Chewy (named after Chewbacca of course) piled into our Honda Odyssey Friday morning. We have a Thule on top of the van packed with camping supplies. The back hitch is sporting a rack with three mountain bikes. The van is full and weighted down. My husband Dave asked me to jump on the back bumper so he could check the shocks. Everything was working ok, so we set off! Our first stop is San Antonio, TX. We were stationed at JBSA Randolph years ago so we’re super excited to go back to a place we loved and visit old friends.  Mostly happy kiddos ready to get on the road!  Annabelle’s drawing of Elsa.
