Rest in Tehachapi
Wednesday June 8
We have had several days of rest and just hanging out with Dave’s mom which has been really nice. We went to church on Sunday in Bakersfield and then visited Dave’s dad’s grave at Bakersfield National Cemetery.
Dave’s mom Sara recently bought a new camper and our kids absolutely love it. They especially loved watching movies on the “bunk bed” above the drivers seat.
I was introduced years ago to the Boyer family camping tradition of hiking for pie (which I am all for). This trip we took a walk to downtown Tehachapi to visit TehachaPIE. Annabelle, Liam, and I shared an Oreo cheesecake and the guys shared an apple pie. We love trying new places and it was delicious!
We even saw a train on our walk!
Dave took the boys to get haircuts and I took the little ones to a nearby park. We met up at Kohnen’s German Bakery for lunch. They had delicious sandwiches and fabulous desserts.
For our down time at Grandma’s house we played indoor games, outside with chalk and bubbles, and watched lots of movies. We also finally caught up on the new Star Wars show Obi Wan Kenobi which we love.
Our last day in Tehachapi was mostly spent packing, but we did go to Philip Marx Central Park, which was really nice and well maintained. The kids had an absolute blast! There was a huge slide that even the littles went down just before we left. We’re all packed up and ready for our flight tomorrow. Hawaii (or Hawai-wee as Annabelle calls it) here we come!
