Pizza & Poke

Enjoying our Last Few Days in Hawaii

Thursday June 16

One of the joys of military life is having friends in so many different places. We are so lucky to stay with and catch up with our friends Chloe, Corey and their baby, Emmett who are stationed at the Marine Corp Base here in Hawaii. We knew Corey years ago (before he was a husband and dad) when we were stationed at NAS Pensacola. He is a wonderful friend and we all love him dearly. It such a treasure to get to spend time with him and his beautiful family. The kids love the playground and splash pad across the street from their house. We’ve also visited the “secret beach” on base which is gorgeous and not crowded. We ate a delicious dinner…pizza for the guys and kids, poke for the moms. Poke (po-kay) is raw tuna over rice, kind of like deconstructed sushi. I had wasabi ginger poke which was hot, but delicious. Dave took the boys to Hanauma Bay to snorkel and hike around the rocks. They said they saw many different color fish and even a seal! We’ve thoroughly enjoyed our time in Hawaii, but now it’s time for us to head back to the mainland to continue our travels!

Exploring the playground

Emmett is such a sweet, chill baby. He loves the big kids.

Caleb, my (almost) 7th grader!

Liam had a blast digging in the sand

Corey helping the boys get ready to snorkel. They saw lots of colored fish and even a turtle!

Annabelle made friends (of course) with these two boys who took her for a ride in their kayak.

Hot Jimmy pizza (spinach, pepperoni, sausage, and garlic)

Wasabi ginger poke, seaweed salad, and kimchee edamame

Both of these kiddos had spinach with their dinner, but I think Emmett is hoping Annabelle shares her pizza.

Corey, Dave, and the littles

Chloe made delicious margaritas for us mamas!

Passion Orange Guava…our kids new favorite juice

Fun with Annabelle, Liam & Emmett at the splash pad

Picturesque Hanauma Bay

A seal sunning on the sand

Shaved ice at Keneke’s…lychee mango and guava for Dave, strawberry, lime, and mango for the boys

Chloe and I got pedicures! It was so fun to have some girl time.

Burger time!

Frozen yogurt at Frost for dessert

We made friends with a family at Frost tonight. One of their girls gave Annabelle this doll as we were leaving. I’m so grateful for the kindness and generosity of others.
